Building Homes for Heroes held its 3rd Annual New Jersey Golf Classic at the Battleground Country Club in Manalapan on May 17, 2010. The event raised nearly $50,000. All proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Army Sergeant Joel Tavera. Sergeant Tavera and his family will be recipients of a home in Central Florida provided by Building Homes for Heroes. Among those in attendance were Army Staff Sergeant William Castillo, Sergeant Mary Herrera (Arizona Army National Guard), Army Specialist Robert (B.J.) Jackson (Iowa Army National Guard), retired Army Corporal J.R. Martinez, and Joel Tavera’s proud father, retired Marine Sergeant Jose Tavera.
Building Homes for Heroes would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jason Evanchik and family for their amazing effort in once again organizing and carrying out the golf outing. Another selfless effort and wonderful memory! Building Homes for Heroes would also like to thank the PVH volunteers, all of our volunteers, all of those who attended the event, the FDNY and the entire staff at the Battleground County Club, for all they did to make this event our best yet.
