Home to be built for Army SPC Brendan Marrocco

Building Homes for Heroes and the Stephen Siller Foundation have announced a partnership to build a new home for 23-year old Army Specialist Brendan Marrocco of Staten Island, NY. Marrocco lost all four limbs on Easter Sunday 2009 when the vehicle he was driving in Bayji Iraq was hit by a roadside bomb. The blast tore off both of Marrocco's arms and his left leg. His right leg was mangled beyond saving. His ceratoid artery was severed, his body badly burned, and vision in his left eye was severely damaged. At the press conference held at the Staten Island 9/11 Memorial, the partnership put forth the plan to raise a minimum of $500,000 to provide Specialist Marrocco with a home suitable to his many needs. Building Homes for Heroes and the Siller Foundation hopes to have the home completed by Christmas Day 2010. Click here for more info...

450 attend “Operation Support our Military” golf/dinner event

On Veterans Day 2009, Building Homes for Heroes participated in the “Operation Support our Military” golf outing and dinner sponsored by the Siller family, Tunnel to Towers Run Foundation. Building Homes for Heroes was named as one the event’s recipients. Frank Siller proudly introduced William and Katherine Castillo as the first home recipient they intend to support. Over 400 played golf at four different Staten Island golf courses. The presence of the honorable Rudolph Guiliani was one of the highlights of the evening, as was the connection between Mr. Giuliani and home recipient SSG William Castillo. It was an honor spend an evening with FDNY Chief Salvatore Cassano, the entire Siller family, and so many patriots from the Staten Island community.
